Hi, I would appreciate your suggestions on the best eats in Vancouver. Thanks! |

Lucky you! Vancouver have a great food scene. The area of Yaletown is very hip and happening, there is a really fun Oyster Bar there, Rodneys, this place is always busy and the staff are a hoot. Chambar is very nice and they have a sister restaurant next door which is always busy for lunch. Gotham Steak House and Rain City Grill (Vancouver is called rain city). When you arrive, there is a magazine - 100 places to dine in Vancouver. If you are a coffee fiend, you may have to search long and hard - I found I ended up asking for a double shot in a smaller cup. They serve their wines very cold and the BC wines are not much chop. There is a very cool organic farmers market which you can catch a wee tug boat over to Granville Island and that is a definate must see, try to avoid the weekends otherwise it is manic and you really would not enjoy the full potential of this market. The tug boat takes 10mins and they leave frequently from the main island. |

Hi foodiefoodie,
2 years since I was last in Vancouver, but the two best restaurants then were West (just over Granville Island) and Lumiere (tho I think the star chef has now left.
Chambar is brilliant, ask for Wendy to look after you, cocktails are also very good tho bar manager Josh Pape has moved onto a new place in Gastown.
If you like Cocktails, then there are lots of good options, West as above, plus also The Pourhouse where bar manager Jay Jones makes brilliant drinks, or Diamond where Josh Pape (ex Chambar) now runs the show. |

Hi, sadly, Bin 941 and Vij's were too far from where we stayed so we didn't make it. We had brunch at Cafe Medina (next door and same owner of Chambar). Fantastic food!
Japadog was interesting!
We tried Le Crocodile but it was a big disappointment! I had a gut feel it was not going to be good when I saw the salt and pepper shakers on each table. It wasn't rock salt and the black pepper was already ground.
There is a new place called Globe in Sun Peaks and they serve nice tapas and good value.
We loved the food at Market in Shangri-la and were a bit disappointed with Bearfoot Bistro in Banff. The lobster was overcooked and tasteless.
The highlight for me is Pulled Pork Sandwich from Pig BBQ Joint in Victoria. If you have a chance, please try it with the BBQ Beans. It was C$5 heaven!!! |
