We frequented the Red Beach Italian restaurant regularly and were delighted to find Ceasar had opened this restaurant(on our way up north we had lunch in Whangarei and read about this place in one of the mags and instantly recognized the owner). Our meal was so good we are returning very soon. The olive and pesto bread was freshly baked and full of flavour. Our shared entree of calamari in a tomato sauce with garlic spaghetti was succulent and tasty. Our mains (my husband had the veal marsala which he said was the best he had had since Red Beach days) while i had the veal with a spicy tomato sauce, which was excellent. Mains were accompanied with standard but nice veges. Whilst it was very busy the night we ate here and we had to wait nealy 80 minutes to receive our mains, the result was definely worth waiting for (we were annoyed we were staying in Pahia and could not indulge in more italian wine so next time we have booked accomadation within walking distance so we can really enjoy!!)

I have dined all over the world and this must be one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I have dined now there for over a year and the food is superb, freshly created right on front of you by an authentic Italian chef, the flavors are perfectly balanced.
Even the breads are baked from scratch, one by one.
My partner has got a gluten intolerance and she coulnd't believe how good her dish was, especially created for her on the spot.
The place was full, well done!

Having spent a corporate career eating out 2-3 times a week in various restaurants around the world, I thoroughly enjoyed the versatility of the chef at the Italians- I asked him to surprise me on each of my visits, and after assessing my likes and dislikes, he did just that! fantastic food, and very clever.
When you travel alot, you sometimes know exactly what you feel like, but are bombarded with standard menus and boring fare that meets the general market. Chefs generally lack the care that it takes to tailor meals to customer needs. Not so Cesare.
He blew me away on my last visit, as he had actually been thinking of something new, off menu, to surprise me with.
While I appreciate this isnt practical for groups, its such a blessing if you eat on the road. I notice a number of other corporate travellers have found this delightful restaurant in kerikeri too!
Defninitely should be on the tourist guide map.

This was our second round at The Italians. We played safe by ordering 2 pizzas - The Don Vini (wrong spelling but close) and the Volcano - Mamma Mia - they were good!! The volcano is just that - it causes a lava effect in your mouth - more than a little heat but so tasty. The Don Vini - authentic Italian flavours of olives anchovies herbs etc.
The service is great. The young waitress was pleasant and attentive. Will go back and try the pastas next.

My husband and I dined out at this restaurant prior to Xmas during our stay in Kerkeri. Very friendly, warm atmosphere, and interesting and not over-priced menu. Italian owner/chef incororates old family recipes into some/all? of his menu. Italian red wines and beers available. We enjoyed the meal to such an extent, we returned after Xmas but were a little disappointed with some the food we were presented with - different chef - notably an overcooked vegetable side-dish and food seemed to be over-powered with garlic. (I guess its a matter of preference, but I've spent quite a while in Italy and done a lot of Italian cooking myself, and not experienced this before.) However, I am sure it won't stop us going again next time we are in Kerikeri!
