We dined at 2 Small Fish on a Wednesday evening, it was 25-30% occupied. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and, except for two things, enjoyed the evening. The first issue was that on a cold winter night the heating was inadequate and whilst we were not shivering we would have liked to be warmer. The second is with the part owner who was also our waitress on the night, her manner is fairly abrupt and she twice moved couples, who had selected their own table, from a table set for four to a table set for two - in spite of the restaurant being mainly empty and there being several more tables for four available.
So, in summary if you don't mind somewhat abrupt, verging on the rude, service the food is well worth it. Price for two mains, one dessert and a bottle of wine was $120.

Oh dear, the chef/s in this venue really deserve more than the utterly appalling service dealt out by the maître d'/manager. In all my dining experiences I have never had the misfortune of being served by such an utterly obnoxious woman. At these prices, along with good food I expect service of a certain standard, and unfortunately on the latter this place falls short to an almost comical degree. I'll not be returning.

This is a beautiful restaurant! The meals were delicious and well-prepared. It is obvious a lot of thought has gone into the different flavour combinations in each dish. The snapper was so fresh - it tasted like it had just been caught. I didn't appreciate the service given by the restaurant's maitre'd but I hear this will be rectified soon. This is easily the best restaurant at the Mt.

Food was ok but nowhere near good enough for the price of the menu. Also the food is completely ruined and over-shadowed by the rudeness and agressiveness of the owner/waittress. She seemed more interested in surfing the internet than doing any work. She handled a small complaint about the main that I had been served in such an insulting/demeaning manner that it was easily my most unpleasant experience.
I make a point now to spend my hard earned dollars in other parts of the North Island.....Mt Maunganui can do without my money evidently. And this is all because of one person who hasn't got the intelligence to realize that to insult customers of your business isn't a good idea, not just for yourself but for the town/region in general. Obviously there isn't a recession in Mt Maunganui.
