After a terrible experience at a Thai Restaurant earlier in the festive period, we were hoping the Thai House in Ponsonby could restore our love of Thai food and they didn't let us down. We were greeted with a smile, shown to our seats and left to ponder of a wonderful menu. We were treated to a sumptuous mixed starter of money bags, spring rolls and chicken satay, all of which got the taste buds rather excited. Then pad thai noodles and chicken panang for our main course, which not only fully restored our faith in thai cuisine but also converted yours truly to being rather fond of coconut based dishes, which is a triumph in itself. If your a fan of thai food or want to experience it for the first time, the Thai House is the place for you.

After booking a table we were squashed at the front of the restaurant in the window, barely able to move without hitting someone. It took 40 minutes for the wait staff to take our order, and another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. They were busy, but it was only a small order of two mains. The food was nice but nothing spectacular. We were then hurried out of the restaurant, with the last bite still in our mouths (no exaggeration), with a hand written receipt in pencil on the back of an old MYOB report. Highly unprofessional in my opinion.
All in all not a great experience, but maybe we caught them on a bad night.

Visited this restaurant twice recently and both times the food and service has been great.....would recommend and will certainly return when in Auckland next.
