I had to try Ann's again after seeing recent reviews.
I love Thai food and have never been disappointed eating here. We found the entres and mains very good and definitely better than your average Thai food. It's not cheap, but I don't think it's over priced, given the quality of the food.
The only negative was the inadequately heated restaurant that had us leaving very promptly after our meal. Surely a restaurant full of people in jackets is a sign they need to warm the place up!!
I found the toilets to be a bit tired, but clean and far better than many very highly rated restaurants I've dined at.
I'm sure Ann's are struggling against the proliferation of cheap Thai restaurants, but their food is a cut above most, and I have no reservations recommending them to anyone.

Upon visiting Ann's Thai with lunch with a friend ,we both found the place uninviting, cold and quite frankly very disapointing. Hereford Street was far from bustling, was well littered with paper blowing down the alleyways, and looked grey and unwashed, so we expected something better once inside Ann,s
First impressions are important and the unclean front entrance carpet certainly did not have the "welcome in " appearance . With seating for up to 50 people there were just 5 in this restaurant situated in supposedly one of Ch ch's busiest street blocks, and 2 of them were US ! I noticed bulbs out everwhere in the hanging lamps ( presumedly to save candle power ?), and the lights facing the attractive wall paintings were not on either...all and all a somberside situation. The Tom Yum with seafood was OK, and so was the generous sized bowl of rice ...but all was bland. The toilets were unacceptable .....'nuff said Fred ! ...sorry won't be back ...there is plenty of other Thai restaurants in Ch Ch to choose from ....

Nulli, I would be inclined to agree, it has somewhat of a good name and is well know, but I did not enjoy my experience there either and its not cheap, we have the fried fish and complained as it was pretty awful, and got a free desert. we have not returned. if they got rid of the garden style furniture and gave the place a bit of TLC it may be a start.Login to vote Yes, a great reviewx0This review should be deletedx0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

Came here for dinner with friends on Saturday night. Ordered the platter of entrees to start, and had four mains to share. Ordered a bottle of wine, which was consumed quickly- they unfortunately ran out of that wine, and our next choice. However, all was forgiven- the entree was lovely, the moneybags and curry puffs were wonderful. Fishcakes not really flash but you can't win all the time. Mains were delivered in good time, Chicken fried rice, yellow chicken curry, garlic pork, and lamb basil & chilli. The lamb was DIVINE- so tender it was amazing! pork was good too.
All up, a nice evening out, expensive for thai, as Roona pointed out, but a good quality meal. Would go back for the lamb... nom nom nom.

I needed a couple of days to calm down after my Saturday night experience before I wrote this review. I am really surprised by all the great reviews on this place. I was left nothing short of shocked by this, the most dismal and expensive Thai meal I have ever had! Maybe it was the fact that we didn’t dine until 9.30 that would explain the rude service? But it would not explain the stupid prices, fairly bad food and dirtiest loo’s I have encountered in ChCh! ( I have been to service stations that have cleaner bathrooms) $101 for 4 people, BYO, 4 mains, no entrees is extortion for Thai! Al I can say is that I am glad that there are so many better Thai restaurants closer to me and I never have to go back to Ann’s Thai! And $8 for a tiny bowl of rice – WHY ???
