Pegasus Arms is the closest pub to Christchurch's central city, offering a fine range of beers and wine and simple but tasty menu. A bustling atmosphere is enhanced with warm fires, cosy corners and a large outside area. As Christchurch's oldest residential house, the historic surroundings are balanced by a good, contemporary attitude to service and smiling.
I had lunch with a few work mates. We were shown into the front room - first time I've been in there.
I had the Confit Pork Belly with a crispy skin served with a kumara and potato gratin, braised cabbage with bacon and an apple maple chutney. The pork was very good but not perfect - only about 20% of the top had crackled. The rest of the stuff on the plate was a bit uninspired and didn't really balance out the pork.
The service was good and we were regularly checked on for drinks.
