Had takeaway Lamb Palak, vegetable Pilau rice and garlic nan. + bottle of kingfisher lager while waiting $26
Took 45minutes to come even though restaurant not full. v. poor I was asked towards the end if I was waiting by three people each one went into the kitchen and didn't come back to tell me when my food might be coming. This was even though I was sat in front of the main desk for the whole time!
Lamb dish poor thoroughly overcooked so lamb tough and stringy, overbearing cinnamon flavours, unable to detect the spinach that the dish is based on.
Vegetable pilau was very we rice with tinned vegetables thrown in. I had asked if they could do a mushroom rice. I was told this was not possible (why for goodness sake? it's just saffron infused rice with a handful of fried mushrooms thrown in) I was ensured that the pilau had mushroom in it. It didn't! Learn your product guys.
Garlic nan was full of all the right flavours but had been precooked and heated up prior to service. Bad move, nan bread has to be cooked and delivered immediately if it isn't it goes all gooey and chewy.
I wouldn't have minded the wait if the food was good but it wasn't. If you're going to make your customers wait so long then make sure it is all cooked from fresh. I wouldn't have minded out of the tin food if it had been delivered in 5minutes out of the microwave (with a $10 price tag to match). But it wasn't!
Indian cuisine I believe is one of the finest in the world, so the management and chefs of Palace of India should give themselves a well deserved slap and send an apology to their mothers for desecrating the palate of so many and despoiling the good name of the Indian subcontinent.

Had an really good dinner here. We shared a starter of chicken tikka, very succulent meat and not dried out at all. The mains, a chicken madras and prawn malawary, were delicious and nicely spiced, accompanied by a very garlicy naan bread. Prompt and friendly service. Highly recommended for a good curry.

GOOD POINTS: good atmosphere, nice decor. Complimentary sauces on table upon arrival.
BAD POINTS: food was well below par for an Indian restaurant.
Bland and lacking inspiration, but the naan bread was quite good.
Service was slow. The waiter was so rushed there was no friendliness at all.
Prices were expensive. If I did not have the Entertainment card discount I would have been very angry.
SUMMARY: I remember this place used to be run by a family and was very good. I think the owners have changed and the place has since gone downhill. There are many better Indian restaurants in Auckland. There is not one reason why I would want to return here.

Child Friendly Not at all

Our 1st time. Its an average Indian restaurant, portions are very small and naan bread..never seem that small and thin. They didn't really attend to the kids and just kept forgetting to take drinks orders, kids were sooo thirsty, I asked for drinks, she said she will come but never did, I had to go up and carry our drinks myself. Maybe they cant pay for good staff, cause there weren't enough staff to attend to everyone, so if someone got forgotten no one would follow up. You have to keep asking for top ups or more naan or rice.
Long way to go to be Palace..as the name suggests :-)
I might have tried there again but my kids do not want to go there again.
