Review following an orgainised birthday party for 7 adults on a Saturday evening, start 8pm at the table. The restaurant was full. The entrees (9.5 to 12 $) were served very quickly: The description in the menue sounded much more promising than what was served: The "Chilli calamares with special Aioli" were bland and the aioli tasted as if it had come out of a container. The "Filled mini pepers" served hot could equally have come directly out of a jar. No imagination, neither in tast nor in presentation. Between the entrees and the mains we had to wait nearly 45 minutes! When the Fish of the Day (Kingfish fillet, 34$) arrived, it was fully cooked through (no pink left here) and was cold, as were the accompaniments. The risotto did also not impress. The request for sorbet for desert resulted in a combination of melting ice cream, which did not reflect the flavours which had been ordered. In our opinion there need to be significant improvements made in respect to the preparation and presentation of the food as well as for the service before we would be able to recommend this restaurant.

went there on recoomendation and can only agree to the previous reviews. Service excellent, friendly and attentative, food fantastic, especially since so far Tapas Bars in Auckland have only disappointed me, speaking of which we were here to try the tapas and had two each with some bread and olives (the only thing to be slightly negative about, since the olives tasted hard and had no flavour and the bread was always a side order which we reordered twice, however bread should come with those dishes anyway, also I would have loved to see some spanish crusty bread and not french sticks. But apart from that we were delighted with the atmosphere, the food and the services. I agree to a previous comment about the toilets, brrrr, they deserve a refit. Will definitely come back to this place.

We have just come back from a birthday party. there was about 35 of us, so one does not expect that we would all eat at the same time. This was absolutely excellent. Not all of the tables got the food at the same time, but at least the three tables got the meals at the same time. the main waiter (whose name I cannot remember) was absolutely fantastic. The food was terriffic. The quality of the food was fantastic.
We were there for a 55th, so they were great about a cake being brought in. I would have loved to have seen the dessert menu. To be honest, I do noty go to restaurants to go to the toilet, so I hope that he fact that the toilets were errrr ok does not affect the overall rating.
Plus only one of two places that has Havana Blue rum (and staff that knows the distinction and how it is supposed to be drunk), well that says it all to me about how classy this place is.
Cannot recommend enough. Totally impressed

Just came here with a group of 15 for a graduation dinner and got the Gothic Room. The service was fantastic throughout, I was really impressed. Despite having such a large party we were all attended to by the fantastic waitress, and the food was wonderful. It was the first day of a new menu which was really fantastic, I can highly recommend the chicken with tarragon lemon sauce.
Dessert was good, though the main focus were the mains, which were really wonderful. The private dining rooms are great for a group, and they really do look after you.

Vivace is a great place. Most of the food, particularly the Kumara Gnocci is delicious, and I wake up dreaming about it. Sometimes small details like the pork belly skin is limp (well that's a big detail really) not crispy. But overall a good place with lovely tapas style food that is delicious and unpretentious.

You can't really go wrong with Vivace, the food is always great, atmosphere lively and service usually good, although the last visit it could have been better. Can highly recommend the gnocchi, it's wonderful.

Had lunch here last Friday. Friendly greeting and a good spot on the balcony so started well. Service (from Bart) was excellent the whole way through. Both our meals were excellent - special of pan fried snapper on a salmon mash was divine. My seafood pasta was also excellent - perfectly cooked spaghetti and no shortage of prawns, capers and large pice of snapper to top it off. Was in a creamy wine sauce but done delicately so wasn't cloying as it can be when not done well.
This was our second meal here (first time reviewed) and the previous visit was just as good.

We were a group of 16, so booked one of the private rooms, which was excellent as it was away for the noise and bussle of the main restaurant. The layout of the table meant that talking to nearly all of those dining was actually possible. We went for the set menu $30 for a Entree and Main, but when we arrived they had to A La Carte Menu on the table - the staff were unaware of the arrangement. The tapas entree was very good and plentiful, and the main menu choices were most of the items on the A La Carte Menu, so it was very good value for money. Desserts and coffees were extra which was fine. The waiters were all attentive, but put all the drinks and desserts on one bill which was a pain, as at the end we had to sort the bill, which was not easy. It would have been better if we had just got drinks from the bar as we went, but that was no offered. Small glitch in the scheme of things. Would go back again, but only in one of the private rooms as the main area was very noisey. The staff were great with the disabled member of the group who was in a wheelchair - opening that access was 'no trouble'.

Vivace looks great on the surface but unfortunately the night we went we were let down greatly by the indifferent service. Even though we were a big group (15 or so) it was a Monday night, so the restaurant was hardly full. We had to wait ages to order our food, and it was a struggle to order more wine, as the waitress had pretty much disappeared. For a restaurant with such fantastic ambience, they should really lift their game in the service stakes.

Had a lovely meal out at Vivace this evening. We hadn't been here since last year but each time we do go there we consistently have a great experience. I had the Veal Scallopini which was lovely, and others had the Pork Loin and Roast Chicken Risotto which they both enjoyed. We had sides of Rocket Salad and Grilled Eggplant with Courgette which were both good. We finished with Apple and Blackberry crumble pie and a Sticky Date Pudding; both of which were good. A lovely vibe with great service and also great coffee.
