Had been recommended to come here - greeted by friendly staff - kids crayons, book and menu for our little one - water on table - great! Here for brunch on a rainy Sunday. Cosy inside - 3/4 full of diners. Menu varied and interesting. Coffee dissapointing - very weak and watery. Bagel cream cheese and jam good and well presented.
Bacon & scrambled eggs ok - eggs overcooked and rubbery - presentation fine. Ricotta & spinach lasagne still cold in middle - but decided to change meal completely as it was loads of layers of pasta and white sauce - congelled like consistancy and very little spinach and ricotta. Nice salad on top. Staff very understanding and a poached egg toast and tomato brought instead in good time - all good. Really impressed with service. Dinner last night was the best meal we have had in ages - it rated up there with our last "best meal' at the Chateau.
I ordered the scallop entree as a main with a green side salad, my partner had the seafood chowder as an entree and a bacon/chicken salad as his main. The chowder was packed with seafood - delicious! My scallops were the best scallop dish I have had in a restaurant - the flavour of the seafood was not overwhelmed by the other ingredients. The entree portion was generous - I could not have managed a bigger serving - my partner's salad was large and "excellent". The food was attractively presented and served in a timely manner by friendly staff who periodically checked to see if we were enjoying our meal. Our water glasses were kept topped up.
We gave in to temptation and ordered lemon meringue pie - this was the only disappointment of the night - it was really a cheesecake - next time we will have the chocolate mousse. A really enjoyable evening. Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook« There are reviews older than 18 months, click here to show them » Add your review to Sparx Cafe[4,484]
