Dined here, as promised in my last review. Normally I don't review a place twice unless something has changed, and this time it was the service. Food was once again outstanding, but the service was rubbish. The table that sat down next to us and 5 minutes after us was seen for drinks AND meal orders before we were even looked at (and we looked ready, menus closed, looking around for service etc). I nearly resorted to waving, and I hate waving. Once we were served I was left asking my partner what he thinks I did to annoy the waitress, because she seemed to have a bee in her bonnet with me. Never meal checked, which is fine, since the meals were great, but still, should have been done. Took a while for dishes to be cleared between courses and after we were done. Since we had eyes bigger then our stomachs we needed a doggy bag, and it was ages (a good 10 minutes) before we were seen and asked if we wanted the food packed up. A smile seemed too much for our waitress to handle, and we just seemed to be bothering her. Never asked if we wanted more drinks (my partner would have had another beer). I realise that it was a Friday night, and I realise that they were busy. I can forgive bad service under certain conditions, but unfriendly service? Nope! So we will go back only for takeaways, so we can enjoy the lovely food. Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

Back again for our monthly dinner out. Service was at its usual high standard and the meal was good as in the past.
Only thing stopping me taking customers here is distance from teh city, but its perfect for being on the way home from most places on the weekends or after shopping trips. Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

A-mazing! We had takeaways - the lamb madras, butter chicken, lamb biriyani, a couple of naans and the entree platter for 2. Heaps of food, will be eating it for days. All the food was beautiful, meat very tender, sauces flavourful. We thought it was good value for money too, $75 for everything. Will be going back, maybe we will dine in next time, the dining area looked lovely. Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

I have to say that Chapati restaurant is an exceptional place to dine in or take away.
The enviroment is comfy and inviting.
The staff, always pleasant and friendly.
The food is wonderful, and I love the way they dont hold back when you order hot or very hot its not the typical "kiwi hot" which most places do, this is the real deal for the chillie lover.
Have been a regular for many years and they have always been consistant - Love this place and its always my first choice when choosing a place to dine out in. Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

As promised earlier we finally made it to Chapati to dine in on a Sunday afternoon as they opened. Worlds easiest order of 2 naans and 2 mild butter chickens, service was quick and easy. Meals came out very quick (5mins) which was perfect for us as we only had 20 minutes to get in and out again. I recommend this place for a quick curry and quick service. will definitely return Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

After all the rave reviews we had high hopes that Chapati's food might be way better then the claggy fatty slop that seems to be the norm for Indian food in Auckland, from food courts through to high-end restaurants. With a few exceptions we were disappointed. The exceptions were the entrees - onion bhaji and tandoori cutlets - which were light and flavoursome, and the goat curry, which was tender and moist in a delicious mild oniony gravy. The roti were good.
The other dishes, Goan fish curry, dhal and palak paneer, although differing in colour, all tasted exactly the same and the sauces were all homogenous, heavy, fatty and claggy, as if they had been homogenised in a big blender in a factory then colour added. Although when invited to do so we had asked for some dishes to be hot and some medium-hot, there was little chilli evident in any of the food.
The premises are comfortably fitted out in neutral colours, with good chairs and tablecloths, plenty of soft surfaces to absorb noise and the service, although slow on a busy Friday night, was professional and pleasant.
The prices are very reasonable, and BYO wine is permitted. It's certainly not an expensive night out but I don't think we'll be returning unless we happen to be stuck in Henderson in need of a goat curry. Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

A group of 6 of us dined here last Saturday. The place was busy - maybe just because this is a really popular restaurant, or maybe because of the great write-up in Canvas that morning. The service felt a little slow at times but due to how busy it was we forgave them. We had delicious samosas (both vegetarian and meat) for entrees and a range of curries for mains. My chicken saag wala was devine - fresh spinach - and all of the others were yum too (the korma especially). As we had naan with our curries no one wanted dessert. The wine list was ok by it is byo (wine only) as well. A good choice of asian beers to suit the food too. Will definately be coming back :) Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

We dined in after a friend highly recommended the restaurant (They get takeaways all the time). The service was superb! All the staff were very friendly and we got our meal within about 15 minutes of ordering. We ordered a bunch of starters and bread (just to be different). The Tandoori mixed platter came sizzling to the table. The meatballs weren't to our taste but the other items (chicken and lamb) were really tasty and tender. The onion bhaji is the best I've ever had (so good we ordered a second serving), and the breads were tasty and light. Highly recommended. Easy parking behind the building. Nice to see all the kitchen staff wearing hats. The kitchen looked really clean and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere with tables nicely spaced. We'll definately be back. This resturant has a warm and friendly atmosphere. I throughly enjoyed my meal and have to say it's got to be the best indian cuisine i've had in Auckland. Service was excellent and even extended to the owner personally helping me jump start my car! Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

Got a takeaway from Chapati on Wednesday 27th May.
Can't say much about the place except the atmosphere and decor is excellent and that it doesnt seem overpriced compared with other Indian Restaurants. We got 2 Vegetarian Curries (Palak Paneer and Mattar Paneer) which were both delicious. Naan bread was great and not burnt like many other places do.
The curry was too hot for me but that's just a personal thing. We have decided to return to Chapati and dine in next time, although I will get a milder curry. Thanks a lot! Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

We dined at Chapati last Thursday night after several favorable reports from friends and also by the mainly glowing reviews on this website. We were not disappointed. Service was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. The purpose build restaurant is attractive and very warm. His Chicken Tikka starter was moist & tender, my samosa Chat was delicious, spicy and as good as a samosa should be (and NOT reheated in the microwave either!) His Butter Chicken was pronounced perfect (although a little on the sweet side for me), my Lamb Vindaloo was the best I have had to date. The Naan was fresh, light and melt-in-the-mouth. All of the above with a plate of pickles/chutneys and corkage for our BYOW was $76. And we took home a doggy bag that fed us the next day for lunch! We ordered "hot" and that sure is what we got: I'd probably order "medium" next time. We were handed a "Dineout" card on paying!! I have to say that Satya was my favourite Indian. It has now been surpassed with Chapati as my 1st choice. We will be back. Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

My wife and I have eaten and have had takeaways here several times and every time we have come away very satisfied. The food is authentic and high quality whilst the service is always very friendly and first rate. We ate here a few days ago and my Chicken Malabari and wifes Chicken Tikka Masala, both medium to hot, Rice and Keema Naan were top rate. After paying the bill I noticed they had not charged us for one of the large bottles of beer worth $12 so I bought it to their attention offering to pay but they said forget it as I'd already settled up. How's that for service! Login to vote x0 x0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

We have been dining at Chapati's for a long time now and the service and food is always exceptional. We have all tried many of their dishes and all are wonderful. Partner even asks the Chef to surprise him with a wonderful meal and it always turns out great. Perfect entree's and mains. Still yet to try the dessert though - always to full.
