I keep coming here hoping it's going to be better but each time they let us down by the service. The food is generally pretty good and didn't disappoint but I can't understand why it takes so long to get the food out. The lady behind the counter who i've seen a few times in the past said it would be about 20 mins, it was nearly an hour before we were served, coffee was good and prompt but again let down by the slow delivery of food. It does need new management in there to improve the processes or food delivery times. maybe it's the standard of kitchen ?? I'll probably go again but wouldn't recommend if you were really hungry and/or in a rush.

Apparently it is new management! I thought they were much better before this crowd came on scene!Login to vote Yes, a great reviewx0This review should be deletedx0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

Something has changed. It says new management but not entirely new staff but the young girl who served us did not break into a smile and the way she spoke was like she was slightly yelling. The music was terrible, I would listen to it in a pub but in a cafe where I can't hear myself think and the beat of the music is making me eat my food faster so I can leave quicker isn't the best. I usually enjoyed coming here but it wasn't so great this time and the eggs benedict didn't taste as good as it usually did! But my bf enjoyed the lamb and mint sausages, they did look good but not for the price we paid :(

I was so looking forward to trying the menu after being impressed by the counter food when I last visited. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The eggs were hard and the bacon soggy, not only that it was the very cheap bacon that doesn't really taste of anything much except for salt. Unfortunately I think these guys are trying to do things on the cheap, and it shows. The service was indifferent at best; I don't think the lady behind the counter enjoys her job at all.

My Girlfriend and I were after a quick hot chocolate and fancied a walk on the beach, but were shocked on the service and lack of customer service we recieved.
After entering the cafe, we looked at the menu for hot chocolate which wasn't listed, anyway after inquiring with the counter woman, we were told , yes we have hot chocolate but the price was $10 for both!, I couldn't believe their would charge that much as a flat white was listed as $3.50.
Anyway, after given no indication on how long it would be or any number, we sat down at a table RIGHT NEXT to the kitchen and waited and waited and waited for 35 minutes until I got sick and tired of waiting only to be rudely told by the chef that the ticket was misplaced and he was busy...No apology, nothing. This will stop us coming back to this place which is a pity as are last 2 visits were good.

Today was my first visit to The Bach for two years due to a couple of dire experiences. Over those two years I have wished that The Bach would change ownership, or management, or something, as it has such a wonderful location. Anyway, this afternoon I noticed a very small sign on the front window that said "under new management" Yay! We shared some counter food, a veggie frittata with salad and a steak sandwich. We also had a kiddie’s portion of pancakes with berries and banana and I had a flat white. The food was tasty and fresh, the coffee was nice too. The service could have been a little more smiley, and it would have been nice if all our food had come out together, but these minor things are easily rectified and didn't really detract from the experience. The sign in the window said the there was a new menu coming so I'm looking forward to the next sunny day when I can come back, sample the new menu and enjoy the view from the deck.

We went to The bach today 20th Dec 09 after not visting there for a while. Previously the food hadn't been too bad but the service was terrible.
Today the food was terrible. To start the coffee's were luke warm and in horrible cups. The table had been wiped but there were dirty wipe marks all over it.
We got our food in reasonable time but the presentation was lacking and it didnt even look appertising. I had the bacon sandwiche which I had,had there before and it was always nice. My partner had the cornfirtters because he had, had them previously and said they were the best he has had.
My bacon sandwiche was not what I had ordered before and was filled with the rhind & bacon fat and was not even eatable. The so called salad consisted of one slice of tomato and a few bits of the yellow looking lettuce. The type you get when the lettuce is nearly finished. It had bbq sauce splashed all over it. I attempted to eat most of it but most of the bacon in the bacon sandwiche was uneatable due to all the fat and gritsel.
The corn fritters my partner had weren't the same as before and were eatable but not very nice.
I took my plate up to the girl on the till and told her of my disappointment with the meal. She replied that she is on front of house and she would pass it on to the chef. As I walked away the woman that owns the cafe was sitting nearby and heard the conversation and talked to the girl and then promptly sat down and continued eating her yellow salad without talking to me re my complaint.
We will not be eating there again which is a pity as we are local and it is a great spot.
Maybe it's changed hands or chefs, but I will go somewhere else where they care about their customers & what they are serving.
If the cafe owner read these reviews then shame on you for not doing a better job and improving the situation.

I was very skeptical on visiting The Bach after reading these reviews. My partner and I went anyway on Sunday late morning, with low expectations. We started off with a Chai and Hot Blackcurrant. Both were served moments after we sat down and both were tasty. I had eggs with hashbrowns and spinach (NOTE: there is nothing gluten free on the menu but they were more than happy to switch spinach for toast) and my partner had the bagels with salmon and the soup of the day. We ordered just before a group of about 10 people and received our food within a very reasonable time (the group of 10 received there food shortly after us, not a long wait at all). The food wasn't anything spectacular. If you're just looking for a relaxing view and something to eat, it's definitely worth checking out.

Like other reviewers I often take visitors to Wellington to the sensational venue - the views really are amazing especially on a sunny day from the deck. Unfortunately like other reviewers the food quality has been getting progressively worse each time I go - it's a real shame. Today I had the Meaty Nachos, which for $17 I expected a lot more than I got which largely consistented of corn chips. The meaty sauce was reasonably flavoured but not exceptionally spicy. Disappointing. I suppose I can thank my lucky stars that I didn't have a cooked fly with my meal as did a fellow diner who ordered the hotcakes with maple, banana and bacon. When pointed out to our server it was answered with a grunt and the dish snatched away to be quickly replaced having simply replaced the offending banana that the fly had been attached to. On the upside my other dinners enjoyed their meals, the service was quick, and the coffee was good.

We had a very nice brunch at The Bach on a stormy southerly morning. What a great spot to watch the waves come crashing in, some so big we feared we'd be swamped! The fire was roaring, so we snuggled up to that and tucked in to the Big Breakfast and the Corn Fritters. The Big Brekky was impressive: 2 eggs on toast, crispy hashbrown, 2 cranskies, mushrooms and bacon and tomato. Big AND tasty. The fritters were nice with juicy kernals (tho there could have been a bit more corn). I find some places muck up fritters by making them stodgy or using nasty dry kernals, but not here! They were served with bacon and coleslaw. Not a limp leaf of mesculan mix in sight! We washed it all down with hot lemon honey and ginger drinks and a long black. The coffee here is really good: dark and chocolatey. Aaron likened it to a chocolate stout. Mmmmm. The service was good. Our meals were delivered promptly (less than 10 mins after ordering I'd say) and with a smile. Not at all the bad experience of other diners.
