Love Yum Cha and don’t do it often enough, so it was a real treat to go to Majestic Cuisine on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Had to wait for just a couple of minutes to get a table as the restaurant was full to bursting.
A bit of a challenge to dine with a vegetarian for Yum Cha, but there was enough variety in the dishes to accommodate this. Ate too much, but it is so tempting to try “just one more” dish. All the dishes were good, but had to pass on the chicken’s feet. Maybe next time if I’m with a group of carnivores!
Great value at around $44 for three people, including Chinese tea.

enjoyed the yum cha here a lot. the duck was cooked really nicely, and i really enjoyed the tarou buns. Dumplings had a bit more pastry than i prefer but were still really good, with excellent service from the staff, who were really helpful even during the busiest time.
Great place for yum cha.

Dined here on Sunday with a group of friends. I haven't been here for ages but we used to come quite often. The service is fast and efficient as Yum Cha should be. Loved every dish we tried even the Chilli Pork Tripe! Which was very tasty-not always easy to make tripe taste good.
This has to be some of the best Yum Cha in Wellington. Delicious!

BEST yum cha in wellington - after trying two other ones on a sunday around 12:15 and being told we would have to wait 20-30 minutes, stumbled across Majestic where we were seated within 2 minutes (after they cleaned and reset our table). We had to be out by 1:30 - however we were out by 1 with the prompt arrival of our favorite dishes to the table - bbq pork buns, shrimp dim sum, spring rolls (and not too greasy like you can get at many places), turnip cake (really flavorsome here, my partner who doesn't usually eat it really liked it), and a few other dishes. The dishes are a little bit more expensive, e.g. 50c more but the quality is a lot better. Flavorsome, fresh, and most of the waitresses spoke really good English so they helped explain exactly what they had rather than the usual guess work that yum cha involves. Although we did have to ask for soy sauce and chilli sauce to be delivered at our table, they constantly filled up our tea pot and cleared dishes from the table when they came around. It wasn't too loud or noisy, and we had sufficient room to feel comfortable and not rushed. Will definitely return this coming sunday!

Frequent this place after discovering it one evening by accident, the food is always plentiful and adventurous…working our way through the menu. Good prices and good atmosphere. Only let down are the waiting staff although friendly look pretty sloppy in jeans and t shirts. But that won’t put us off.

I have been there twice, 1st time. I did book and got taken to my seat, 5 mins inbto the meal(yum char), the lady owner came over and said " you didn't book, why you sitting here?"
I was like %$#@*!! She's rude and arrogant.
2nd time: stupily we went back for yum char and been there for 30mins, with no warning prior, we were told we only have 5 mins to eat and asked to leave the table.
Would not recommend a dining exprience with bad service and no smile!

We were there during the Christmas holiday for dinner. Please avoid their Peking Duck ($65 for a two-course) - a delicacy they clearly have not mastered the skill in; the skin was hardly crispy and contained more fat that one would dare to eat (by rights, not supposed to be fatty). Majestic was outright parsimonious with the pickles and veg that went with the duck skin in rice wrappings, considering the price they charged! Would set you back by another $5 for more. Their stuffed tau foo ($18.50) was hopeless and our own home-made is any time better (my wife vouched); there was no sign of fish paste in the stuffing but strong hints of Siew Mai paste probably left over from their daytime Yum Cha menu(for which we were there too the day before). Stewed pork with yam ($20)was tasteless and may have been prepared and frozen away yonks ago - why? Because the yam tasted a bit stale and it was so mushy to the extent of insulting your palate. Black pepper beef ($18.50) was yet another disappointment - nothing but overpowering peppery that numbed our taste buds. The beef was curiously ultra-tender, as if like chewing jelly, thanks possibly to the abusive use of tenderiser. Also, be prepared to be charged for rice and tea even for a suckling baby (well, it's apparently part of the headcount!). Overall, not a place for fine Chinese dinner cuisine notwithstanding the restaurant name Majestic, which sadly only applies to its price list.

Have tried eating here twice, one for dinner and the other for yum char. Both experiences have been pretty good. I would probably ask for the table nearest to the kitchen though when you're there for yum char- you get the first pick for everything. I went crazy with their "ham sui gok" there, really good but a tad sweet. Overall my yum char experience there has been good. Will definitely go back there.

Majestic Cuisine is a relatively new Chinese Restaurant in Courtenay Place. It has really nice a-la-carte Chinese meals and its one of the best and tastiest Yum Char places in Wellington city.
However I feel that lately Majestic Cuisine lets itself down quite badly by the “uncaring attitude” of the lady-owner who always appears “so up-herself” and “so awfully snobby” whenever I go there.
Its “nice” to be greeted by a friendly smile when a paying customer walks into one’s restaurant, don’t you think?

Went here for yum cha twice in the space of September/October 2009 - once with the family and once with a work group. I really like the yum cha, in terms of the range of food and the quality. When here with the family we got the table nearest the kitchen which is a good one to request. Three sessions on a weekend day show the popularity of the place. I would recommend this place. The service is even friendly which is a little unusual for yum cha!

Ordered the Lemon Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken - wow. So so so good - the rice on the side was amazing as well. I can't wait to go back - I've never had a Sweet and Sour dish as god as that before!

Having been introduced to Dim Sum lunches in Chinatown in London I was a little wary of spoiling my experience when we returned home after five years. After two years of not trying someplace out we were recommended Majestic by some Chinese colleagues. Why did we wait two years!?! We loved the style of service of continuous plates rather than having to choose from a menu. And the food! Fantastic - a lot less generic than what was on offer in London and, the seafood especially, a lot tastier. I can't wait to go back again.
