If you like rich food, this is the place to go. The scallop salad was nicely presented, with a light and refreshing dressing. The hare backstrap was slightly dry but delicious flavours. The wild venison was excellent. The black pudding was very rich - portion size was just right. The deconstructed meringue was a hit. Good local wine selection and well informed staff. Definitely the best place to eat in Te Anua.

I have recently moved to Te Anau from the UK and have been trying out the various restaurants in Te Anau. My favourite is without doubt the Redcliff Cafe. I've tried a range of the dishes and to date all of them have been excellent. I particularly like the fact the portions are not huge so that I have room for a dessert! The food is always well presented, delicious and served with a very friendly smile and welcome. The cafe is charming - cosy with interesting articles, pictures and items about the history of the building. But the best thing about the Redcliff for me is that they serve cider - not just one but a choice of three! As I come from the cider growing area of the UK, I was absolutely delighted to find this. I certainly recommend the Redcliff Cafe without hesitation.

Redcliff Cafe would have to be one of the highlights of my Te Anau / Fiordland experience. The care and attention that has been lavished on the relocated quaint wooden cottage is obvious.
I have eaten at Redcliff several times and would recommend to anyone for an excellent dining experience. My personal favourites on the mains are the venison and the pork bellie, both of which are cooked to perfection and delivered with a wonderful accompaniment of veg that leaves you feeling very satisfied. The wait for a table allows you to enjoy a drink in their homely and comfortable bar or spacious garden areas.
Staff are always friendly and professional, in general top marks, well done Redcliff!

Great atmosphere, food and service. They don't take bookings and there was a 45 min wait for the table, so we had a glass of wine and some bread and dips in the bar. Once the table was ready and the order taken, the meals were delivered in good time. The duck was said to be great, as was the fish. Will definitely return.

A good place to eat, the cosy cottage with very good food. It was not really seasoned that well and the service wasn't able to help with the wine choice at all. But alltogether a very nice meal.

Situated off the main drag, away from the laminated-menu places that cater for tourists, this restaurant based its fare on seasonal produce and was also homely and classy, where the in-the-know locals might go. A good selection of native NZ salad greens complemented hearty mains. The deserts were spot-on - not too much, but enough to leave the most hardened chocoholic satisfied. A great way to re-civilise after some time in the Fiordland bush.

Nice food in an English style pub. Get there early as table fill up quick.
A nice place for a meal but not as good as the Olive Tree.

A warm and welcoming place in a cottage just one block from the lake. Starting with a nice assortment of breads and spreads, members of our party tried a variety of mains, from pork to venison to steak to pasta, all of which were attractively presented and delicious. Good attention was paid in the kitchen to the vegetable accompaniments. The favorite dessert at the table was the creme brulee. The Redcliff Cafe also has a great bar with a good sampling of local brews. A wonderful place to spend the evening. Heartily recommended.

I've eaten at this restaurant a couple of times over the last twelve months and both times was most impressed with both the service and the food. Of three places I've eaten in Te Anau, also La Toscana and Bailiez, The Redcliff was the best. Just a shame I was there in the winter season so they weren't open every night!
