Always a good place to go, but wish they would update their menu. Had a steak and mushroom pizza which was really yum, and the chocolate fondue for dessert is always a winner. Would probably be more tempted to return if the staff focused more on their customers rather than each others conversations.

Last saturday 8 of us went to one red dog for a catch up dinner. We've all been here b4 several times and there is a reason we keep coming back ...... It's fantastic. We ordered 2 lots of anti-pasto platter (yummy x 100) - the best platter in town by far ! Lots of choices, fantastic breads, cheeses, egg thing, pickles etc etc etc. Then the pizzas and pastas came out. I had the beef & bernaise. Beef fillet cooked and then sliced and put on the pizza drizzled with bernaise sauce. Incredible ! Great pizza bases too. We also had jugs from the bat and they had a $15 special on all Jugs. Full macs range plus other boutique beers. So we helped ourselves to a few of those. Waitresses were fantastic, food was fantastic, we had enough time between courses that we could talk, lots of other diners here also having a fantastic time. After dinner we had coffee's and shots at the bar up the front in the comfy seats. What a great place to dine with friends. Also we parked on queens wharf (pay and display) and the $4 we spent on parking the restaurant took off the bill, so remember to show them the receipt. They are also in the entertainment book for 25% off. Why would you want to dine anywhere else ??

A group of 10 of us dined here not long ago on a Saturday night. Even though it was busy the kitchen and waiter staff provided extremely fast service. Within around 15 minutes of ordering our meal it was on the table, beautifully presented. Although we were seated next to a relatively large and noisy family group it didn't detract from the great atmosphere provided by the cosy surroundings of the restaurant. Fantastic place, definitely recommended to all.

We went to One Red Dog for a meal last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a relative staying with us and thought it would be nice to go out for dinner.
We took a seat outside and were quickly asked if we would like some drinks and had water brought out to us which was nice. The drinks arrived shortly after and our order taken. We found the staff quite nice and helpful which is always great to see. I ordered the carbonara and my husband and sister in law ordered the three little pigs pizza. The meals took about 20 minutes to arrive which is pretty good considering that the restaurant was pretty busy. My carbonara was pretty damn good to be honest and I happily devoured as much as I could even after suffering from morning sickness most of the week! The pizzas were also enjoyed a lot with no pizza being left over from either my husband or sister in law which is a good sign. Presentation was as good as a pizza or pasta could be presented, so no complaints there. Overall we were pretty happy and we will be back.

One Red Dog use to be one of my favorite pizza places. The pizza has gone downhill and the prices are expensive. Went on Saturday for lunch and ordered my favorite Beef and Bernaise. They were stingy with the beef and the pizza was overcooked and as a result dry. The garlic bread has also shrunk and the Teriyaki lamb pizza was also disappointing. There are much better places to get pizza in Wellington and I will be going there from now on. The service was also poor, inattentive and slow. We had to go to the counter to get served while one waitress was washing the windows?? The staff need to focus on the customers rather than on their own conversations.

We visited on a busy Friday lunch. The restaurant was full when we arrived but having made a reservation we were lead straight to our table. The restaurant had a good vibe going on. The waitress took our beverage order quickly and the beer and wine was quick to get to our table. We started off with an anti-pasto platter which was impressive. We then ordered our pizzas for the table. These took a while to come out but it was no big deal. The pizzas were not flash. The base was dry, tasteless, and did not go down well with the group. The toppings were generous but again lacked flavour. I would not recommend going here for pizza.

I went to One Red Dog on Queens Wharf during the week for dinner with a colleague. I had a large half and half pizza with:
‘The fastest indian’ - real tandoori chicken, red onions, poppadoms, buttered chicken sauce + garlic yoghurt, and
‘terayaki lamb’ -lamb marinated in red wine, honey & garlic with spring onions, mushrooms + teriyaki sauce.
Both sides of the pizza were good and I would order them again.
The restaurant was quite quiet when we were there, the food arrived swiftly and it was a nice relaxed environment.

Review for you Gluten Free friends out there!
I was so please to be able to go out for Italian food with friends and have a gluten-free option. My excitement was soon greeted with frustration. I ordered the Margherita pizza. The toppings were fine, I mean, how do you mess-up a Margherita pizza? The pizza base on the other hand was awful. They use a cornbread like base which is just too heavy. I actually was picking corn out of my teeth throughout the entire meal. At one point I had to get up and visit the bathroom to get the stuck corn out! It compacted into my teeth like taffy.
Thanks for trying to serve us gluten free folk, but keep trying!

Despote some terrible reviews, I had a surprisingly pleasant night at one red dog. We were a very large group (20), and they managed to accomodate well for us, especially since we had a few stragglers with us for whom we hadn't booked. The food was great, if a little unimaginative, and they managed ot get us out right on the time we'd specified. My only complaints were the extreme noisiness of the place, and the fact that we had to share one drinks menu between 20 of us - we were given this by the waitress, who then had to stand over each of us as we perused it.

Went to the Queens Wharf restaurant for lunch with some friends (7 of us), ordered the antipasto platter to start with and it is HUGE and yummy - sometimes you get platters with either stuff-all on them or really weird stuff that you'd never eat, well this one is all good and it comes with pizza bread. We also ordered 3 pizza's and some chips and a garden salad and shared them all. Our waiter was hard 2 understand (as english was his 2nd language) but we got through that. The food took 25 minutes to arrive which is longer than normal, but the flavours on the pizza were amazing. They really know how 2 make a great tasting pizza, soooo many flavours 2 choose from too. Queens Wharf as a venue is really nice. Pitty about the place above the Dog though, because that place sucks. a great range or tap beers and you can order beer by the jug !! Go for the antipasto platter, you won't be disappointed. I'll definately b back =)

Great place to go for a casual relaxed meal. Great views over harbour and choice of sitting inside or out. Service was really the only thing that let this experience down slightly, it seemed to be mostly young uni students working there.

I went to One Red Dog for a friends birthday on a saturday night, so there was ten of us. For starters my friend was hung up on when she called to ask if she could book. Drink orders were wrong, or didn't show up,we had multiable waiters, one of you meals was forgotten about, so we went to see were it was.. they said it hadn't been made, so they started it and told us it would be 10 to 15 away, with no apologies for forgetting it. It finally arrived after everyone had finished with no apologies. After our meal, when we were paying, my friend asked if something could be done for the meal being very late, but the manager told us it was our fault and the waiter didn't hear me order it! And he continued to fight with my friend about it. After that was over (and my friend had left) I handed over my card to pay, it was snatched out of my hand, swiped and then thrown back at me, then after the manager finally calmed down and everyone had payed, he asked what was wrong with the service, so we told him and he just argued back at us! Worst restaurant I have ever been to. with very average food... One Red Dogs staff obviously have very little or no training, the customer is always right!
