A friend and I attended their Opera evening and will be making this a regular event. Couldn't have been more impressed. It was a full house and never once did the service get below exceptional. The hostess and waitresses gave us great info about the food and wine, were so friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I would count this my favourite restaurant in Whangarei now.

Visited Amici yet again on 8th April for again another lovely meal. Finally persuaded Pat to try the Calamari and she agrees it is awesome. Only have the entree size as after one attempt at the main size, was stumped, as generous servings are given. Dont stop this as it's good value for money and some may find the sizings correct for their appetites. Thanks again for another good experience at your establishment. Highly recommend.

I concur with everybody above. A nice place and good food. The only place I have found that serves REAL pizza, not this doughy gunk some pizza places offer.

We eat here very regularly. The staff are always superb in every respect, the meals great, ingredients very fresh. We also visit for coffee (which is superb)and cake occasionally. The setting is lovely - a real oasis. Really appreciate the sensible opening hours, we wish more eateries opened throughout the day and into evening but then we might not make as many visits to Amici and this would be a shame! The best in town!

I dine frequently at Amici. The service is always friendly. They check to make sure you’re enjoying your meal and promptly sort out any problems. If you get the wrong meal, or it’s not cooked properly, they will replace the meal and make sure you’re happy with it. The menu has recently changed, and I don’t like it as much as the old menu but I still rate this one of the best places for casual dining.

My last two visits haven't been as good. If I could edit my review I would lower the rating. Still a nice environment but the food isn't as good

I used to love this place but they must have a new chef as the meals are not as good as they used to be. The side salad was uninspiring and the seafood overcooked in the seafood marinara. I hope Amici return to form. The last two meals there have been disappointing and the new menu doesn’t excite. I don’t eat pizzas so if you’re going for pizzas they’re probably still good but the other meals vary between average and good. In the past everything on the menu was excellentLogin to vote Yes, a great reviewx0This review should be deletedx0 | Add your feedback to this | Share on Facebook

Definately a restaurant with atmosphere. After scoping the streets for a nice place to eat in Whangarei on a wednesday evening we came across Amici. It's location, tucked down the pedestrian 'quality street', is perfect for the italian themed experience. We ordered the three breads to start. All tasty and satisfying - toppings not too overpowering and the bread really fresh. Just enough for two. For the main my dining partner had the salmon special with leek risotto. No complaints there. I had the insalata del salmone (salmon salad) which, for a main priced salad, was very light on salmon. It tasted great though and I left feeling comfortably satisfied.
The wine was good. But I must admit I expected more italian wines by the glass. The Montepulcianno red very nice. Not in the slightest as I expected from an italian wine (I prefer my wine robust but when in Rome certainly paid off this time!)
Outstanding food it is not. But great service, attitide, atmosphere and location cetainly make you feel a world away.

My wife and I have eaten at Amici twice now. I can truly say that we have been very happy with the food on both occasions.
Above all, the service is excellent! They are fast, friendly and very professional. I can sometimes handle average food, but never average service, the staff do a fantastic job!
Great setting (With the old style buildings in Quality Street).
Highly recommended.
Thanks!

Really enjoyable night out and dinner. Took awhile to get our meals, but didnt mind as the atmosphere was great! My partner enjoyed his authentic italian pizza, and the fish of the day was beautiful - only complaint was that the ricotta cakes served under the fish were a bit on the cold side. Definately worth a return trip.

Dropped in for lunch. Menu provides lots of options. My choice was absolutely delicious. The coffee is good and the environment, outside in a busy pedestrian lane is very relaxing. The thing that most got my attention was the lovely attitude of the staff and even the owner came to our table and chatted after first enquiring if everything was satisfactory. All the dishes seemed reasonably priced and overall a very nice experience.
