My husband and I went to Beat Street café for lunch. I ordered the bagel with poached egg, hollandaise, beetroot, with a trim flat white and my husband ordered bacon and eggs. The coffees took about 15 mins to arrive which was fine. My bagel came, presentation was good and it tasted OK, although could have had seasoning, but was happy to put that on myself. No sign of my husband's meal so I ate mine and drank my coffee, and my husband finished his coffee as well. Coffees were fantastic - strong and creamy.
We noticed there was some confusion with the table next to us (who arrived 20 mins later than we did) when their meals came out and they had to take them away again as they were not the correct meals. My husband was still to get his meal. In the end (after 35 mins and after I had finished all of my meal and coffee) we asked as to where my husband's meal was. The waitress apologised and offered us free coffee to which my husband accepted. His meal came out about 10 mins later.
If I could offer Beat St a bit of advice... can you put salt and pepper on every table, we had to borrow off another table, and then another table borrowed off us.
Would we go back, probably as the meal was quite nice, albeit one of them arrived 30-40 mins later than the other.
This is one place you have t experience when in christchurch, the falafel was the best. Have had. Bambi burger one of the best three hamburgers I have had in the South Island. All in all one eating experience u have to have. Look forward to seeing goats cheese and beet root on the menu. Well done guys and girl.
